Types of Prayer & Worship

Types of Prayer

  • Petition & Intercession

In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus invites you to ask Him for everything from your “daily bread” to his “kingdom come,” both for yourself (petition) or for others (intercession). Tell God what you need. Intercede for your family, friends and church. Pray for global workers and for revival in our city.

  • Confession & Repentance

Repentance brings freedom. Psalm 32 says, “Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide... and you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.” When you come to confess, remember that God is gentle. Paul says, it’s His kindness that leads us to repentance. Expect Him to comfort you and lift your head.

  • Worship & Adoration

Just as there are many ways to pray, there are many ways to worship. You can sing, dance, kneel, read a Psalm aloud, write, draw, or simply sit in stillness with open hands. The truest form of worship is surrender.

  • Stillness & Centering Prayer

God invites you to center your scattered thoughts and quiet your soul with Him. He is pleased by your willingness to simply sit and enjoy His presence. He likes you! Rest with Him.

  • Contemplative Prayer

Rest in God’s presence by slowly reading and rereading short passages of Scripture. When a word or phrase stands out, pause and linger with it. Ask God to speak through it, and share your thoughts, questions, and emotions with Him. You may also journal as you reflect on your day or year, inviting the Holy Spirit to reveal moments for gratitude, growth, or repentance.

  • Inner Healing

As Isaiah 35 and 61 say, God wants to turn your deserts into gardens, your mourning into gladness, and your shame into everlasting joy. Be vulnerable with the Lord in prayer. Share your heart with Him and ask Him to heal you. Fayetteville Prayer Room offers inner healing sessions with trained ministers.

  • The Nightwatch

There is no time like midnight to experience the sweetness of God’s presence and minister to his own heart. Through the night, you can keep vigil alone or with friends while “waiting for the Lord” like the Psalmist and “waiting on him” like a servant.

Types of Worship

  • Praise

Most often, worship is pure praise - when we ealt the Lord, expecting nothing in return. We can join the angels singing, “Holy, holy, holy!” He is worthy!

  • Intercession

Sometime worship is warfare - when we sing over out homes, churches, region and beyond. We can declare God’s will through song, expecting breakthrough!

  • Trust

Worship can open the door to healing. When we minister to the Lord, He delights to turn and ministers to us (Luke 12:37). In His presence, God softens our hearts, teaches us to trust, and meets us in our vulnerability. In that sacred space, He brings freedom, wholeness, and rest for our souls.

  • Submission

Worship can lead to deep transformation. As we sing, the Holy Spirit gives revelation about His character and our identities in Him. He gently convicts and leads us to repentance. As we yield through songs of surrender, He reshapes us—for His glory and our good.

  • Celebration

We can also sing to God, expressing our gratitude for all the wonderful things He has done!

Worship for the Week

Prayer Stations

In the main room of the Prayer Room we have several prayer stations:

Pray Global - Write down a prayer for the nations and pin it to the bulletin board surrounding the world map.

Pray Local - Pray over NWA using our regional map and city prayer guides. Write down your prayer and pin it to the bulletin board so we can pray in agreement with you!

Nail it to the Cross - Spend some time at the foot of the cross and nail your struggles, cares, and worries to the cross.

Read Scripture Aloud - Pick up where the last person left off (indicated by the bookmark and arrow) and help us read aloud the whole story of scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Alternatively, you can read aloud from the Common Book of Prayer, Valley of Vision, or Pray the Hours

Communion - Next to the podium and stage, we have communion available. Take it and remember your sins are covered! By his stripes, we are healed.

Answered Prayer - Praise God with us for all the ways we have seen him respond to our prayers at our answered prayer wall! Write your own praises if you have them.

Prayer Through Art - Sketch, paint, draw, or creatively write your prayers and pin them to the green bulletin board by the answered prayer wall.
